Vintage P-90's from the 50's were very special because of their vocal and dynamic qualities, with bold highs that breathe with clarity. The only problem was the 60-cycle hum and for today's player, 60-cycle hum can be unbearable at times. Mojotone's patent applied for '56 Quiet Coil hum-cancelling P-90 delivers all of that vintage goodness of a coveted 1956 P-90 without ever compromising tone or feel.
Our approach was very simple, to make a P-90 pickup that sounds like a real vintage P-90 without the hum. ‘56 “Quiet Coil™” P-90 pickups are passive and only use the parts and materials found in original vintage ‘56 P-90 pickups. Vintage spec 42 gauge coil wire, lower Gauss Alnico magnets, adjustable polepieces, and vintage braided leads.
No PC boards, batteries, stacked coils, or anything else associated with other hum-canceling pickups were used in our design. The result is simply the most pure and authentic P-90 tone possible, with absolutely no loss of true single coil P-90 tone. Cranked, they are big and bold with a classic grind that pulsates with the amplifier like a sophisticated sounding P-90. Roll back the volume to get a sweet clean tone of a vintage P-90 without losing clarity or treble.
Quiet Coil Design Features... -Consistent scatterwound coils for that handwound tone, sensitivity, and clarity. -Vintage formulated Alnico magnet cores with lower Gauss levels like an aged vintage P-90 pickup. -Vintage braided leads for easy push-back soldering. -No routing modifications are required to fit shallow vintage routs like the taller stacked hum-cancelling designs. -Less parts are used to build the Quiet Coils compared to other designs. Like a vintage P-90 pickup, they are SIMPLE!

Mr. Decided to upgrade the electronics on my casino coupe. Wanted some quieter P90s. It was either these or the Kinman P90s.The demos sounded good, so I ordered your dogear quiet coils. Although my luthier had to do some work to get the neck pickup to fit (required some sanding, a different cover, and shims for both pickups), the end result is just about perfect. The sound, well, it is just incredible. I have other gibson and epiphone guitars with p90s to compare with, and these these pickups do retain the 'P90' sound and response, but are much more like the older gibson P90s, not the hotter newer p90s of today. Now my casino can go from a smoky dark jazz sound, to a Gretch like twang, to folk rock jangle, and no 60 cycle hum. Well done Mojotone!

null I have an old 1959 Jr that has been refinished, refretted, new tuners, but still had the original wiring and pickup. Sounds incredible but I couldn't handle the noise anymore especially now that I'm using in ear monitors. Just unbearable when all you hear is hum! I shopped around and couldn't find anything that didn't require routing my vintage guitar. That's sure to destroy the tone of my guitar and the value! Someone suggested I look into the new Mojotone quiet p-90 and I saw the video where they demoed it in a vintage jr so I figured it should fit mine which it did. And the tone is exceptional. I'm getting the same tone and feel I had with my original pickup but without the noise. Very good pickup! As advertised!

null Great tone! i upgraded a single dog ear P90 Hamer DC Jr. project guitar with this new '56 Quiet Coil hum-cancelling P-90... wow totally different guitar. This guitar now has the tone of an early LP Jr. DC. I have already replaced the stock pots and caps with a CreamTone '59 authentic Les Paul Jr. PIO, the pots/cap upgrade was a huge difference, but the MojoTone '56 quiet coil put it over the top!! great job!
