Tired of playing through those kiddie practice amps that lack tone as much as they do quality? Try one of our Mojo Bedroom Amp kits and bring back a touch of tube to the bedroom. Equipped with an 8" ceramic speaker a single 12BH7 and two 12AX7 tubes, this tiny amp also works well in the studio or mic'd up on stage. About two watts of output sounds awesome with just about any pedal you put in front of it!
12AU7 (not supplied) also works well in this amp.
Want to have the bedroom volume, but maybe beef it up with a bigger speaker or different cabinet? No problem, here's just the kit. Enjoy. About two watts of output sounds awesome with just about any pedal you put in front of it!
Stock setup includes 12BH7 output tube. 12AU7 (not supplied) also works well in this amp
A few years back, we were asked to service three of Jack White's Silvertone 1484 amps. Many professionals love the 1484 sound but cannot rely on its build quality for reliable road use. Two of Jack's amps needed new output transformers, but we realized that there wasn't a suitable replacement on the market. We had our friends at Heyboer tear down the old transformers and replicate the design for us to add to the Mojotone catalog. Recently, we had a special request from Green Day's guitar tech, Bill Schneider, to make a road-worthy 1484 style amp in a Marshall® JTM-45 chassis. We loved the outcome so much, we decided we would share the results as the new Mojotone 1484 style amp kit. This new kit boasts the desirable Silvertone straight sound without the not-so-great reverb and largely unused tremolo. We packed it all into a British style chassis and head box which will offer years of roadworthy service.
Unlike most of our reproduction amp kits this is not an exact copy of the original amp. This is Mojotone's version of the Silvertone 1484 model.
1484 Style – Class A/B All Tube Amplifier Output: ~40 Watts Circuit/Model: 1484 Fixed Bias with an adjustable bias potentiometer
Designed with a "keep it simple" mentality, this kit is meant for the bassist in need of a great sounding, all tube amplifier, without the excessive weight. At a meager 30 lbs., this bass amp is a shining example of maximum efficiency in the tube amp world.
In keeping with this simplicity, the control panel is as straight-forward as they come. The "Gain" knob controls how much the preamp section is driven, the "treble" knob adjusts the level of the high frequencies in the signal, the "bass" knob controls the lower level frequencies, and the "master" knob controls the overall output volume of the amplifier. In addition to these controls, there is a "Mid-Shift" control that shifts the midrange response from a flatter sound to a more "scooped" midrange response.
Using the "gain" control, one can take this amp from pristine cleans all the way to powerful overdriven and gritty bass tones. With 2 KT66 power tubes, 2 12AX7 preamp tubes, and a solid state rectifier, this bass amp is sure to deliver what any bassist needs out of an amp, without all the heavy lifting.
