Please read our article 'Mojotone Amp Kit Building Primer' along with our amp kit disclaimer located in the Specs tab before buying this kit.

After the original Champ amplifiers received such acclaim, Fender introduced the Vibro-Champ in an effort to build on the success of the simple 5F1 circuit by adding a tube-driven tremolo with speed and intensity controls without losing any of the Champ’s renowned tone. A unique-sounding and apt recording amp, the Vibro-Champ has been used by a wide range of artists, from Eric Clapton to Mac Demarco.

Lightweight and portable, the Mojotone Vibro-Champ style amp is perfect for the studio, practice, and even mic’d club gigs. Our Vibro-Champ style amp is a class A, 7 watt tone powerhouse with clear and articulate sound reproduction at low volumes. And no worries, if you want the raw and entrancing sound of a dimed out Champ, this kit will deliver without losing its inherent clarity.

Enjoy the smooth, natural compression of a single 6V6 power tube and the versatility of two inputs with varying output levels. Controls from left to right are volume, treble, bass, speed, and intensity. Nothing beats a well-designed and short signal path with a straight-forward control panel -- our Vibro-Champ amp is based on a circuit that has proven its worth for almost 60 years!

When purchasing a kit from Mojotone, you will receive the following documentation.

1. Schematic

2. Wiring Diagram / Layout

Our beginner level kits such as the tweed champ and tweed deluxe include a manual. If you purchase a kit from Mojotone and do not receive these documents, you can obtain copies by emailing tech@mojotone.com or calling 800-927-6656. The Mojotone staff is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST unless otherwise closed.

Mojotone kits include the best quality parts that are available at the time of purchase. If a substitution is required, our team will use parts that are of equal quality to ensure the integrity of the kit build remains the same.

Building a fully functional amplifier kit is not an easy task. Before building a kit, one should have the ability to properly solder as well as read and understand a schematic and wiring diagram. While we do our very best to ensure all documentation is current, the included documentation is meant to serve as an overall guide to building the amplifier. Simply following the schematic and wiring diagram does not guarantee you will have a fully functional amplifier. In fact, post build troubleshooting is a common issue across all builds.

Our staff is available to assist with basic troubleshooting needs. There are plenty of online videos available that are helpful with most post build issues. Technical staff is available via email by sending a message to tech@mojotone.com. You may also call our sales team to discuss build problems, dial 800-927-6656 and press 1 for sales.

Building a tube amplifier takes time, dedication, resources and most importantly... Skills! The experience of building an amp can come with some frustration, the reward of completing the build is definitely well worth your time. Please review the wiring diagram, schematic and manual (if applicable) prior to making your purchase. Mojotone will not accept any returns on amplifier kits and/or parts that have been assembled, soldered or modified.

This amp kit also comes with the following documents. Please feel free to view and/or download them:

Great practice amp

by Bob -

This is a great practice amp! It has that classic Fender tone and chime. I made one modification by changing the fixed mids resistor to 6.8K to give it the same mids scoop of the larger Fender amps. I also built a custom pine cabinet and added a Jensen C12N speaker.
This was my second amp build and I found it to be fairly easy but it did take two days to complete. I used the Princeton Reverb manual as a guide for the order of assembly. As another reviewer stated, the wiring diagram has an error in the wiring of the output transformer. You need to switch the output transformer primary leads to avoid having a high pitched squeal.

heads up

by W. W. -

After scouring the web and finding that the OT wires might not be color coded correctly, I finally have the amp not squealing. It is pretty quite and sounds good thru a 15" speaker. After building the Princeton, the build difficulty is more difficult for this amp, I believe, because there are no instructions to follow. Only wiring diagram that was, on my OT, color coded incorrectly.
