Are Mojotone's Custom Wound pickups "Scatterwound"?

Yes they are "scatterwound". We use three different methods to achieve this.

We offer fully handwound pickups. 
These are done with finger pressure and an eye on the coil during manufacture. 
The coils are wound just like strats from the 50's were except for our specific winding pattern.

We also wind with a CNC winder that can control specs on an extremely detailed level. 
The coils have a specific number of turns per layer (different for each layer) and specific wire tension which shapes the tone of each one. 

Coils can also be wound with a mechanically actuated
system with a clutch interface where the wire is guided by a derailleur and the turns per layer varied by hand.

Technically speaking, all winding whether it's by hand or machine will "scatterwind" naturally as the wire will never lay down evenly across each layer but each method allows for a different amount.
