The Blackface Princeton Reverb has been a staple in guitar tone since its inception in 1964. Similar to the idea behind the Vibrochamp, the Princeton Reverb was essentially all the good parts of its predecessor, the Tweed Princeton, but with a long-spring reverb and tube-driven tremolo circuit added. These amps were ideal not only for use in the studio, but for traveling and gigging with as well. Over the years the Princeton Reverb has worked its way into the gear repertoire of many renowned guitarists such as Ryan Adams, Larry Carlton, Glen Campbell, and Tommy Tedesco.
The Mojotone Princeton Reverb style amp is a 12-15 watt miniature giant that goes well with our Anthem series 10" 35 Watt speaker. Like the original Blackface era Princetons, the Mojotone amp has the added gain stage after the reverb that pushes the amp to a thicker level of saturation when the amp is pushed. This effect, mixed with the smooth compression of the 6V6 tubes, makes for a creamy and soulful tone with a ton of character.
The amp has one channel with two inputs. Input 1 is slightly hotter where input 2 is just a bit more mellow. The advantage here is the ability to plug in a guitar with single coils to input 1 and a guitar with humbuckers to input 2 without having to worry about making manual adjustments to the amp’s volume level when switching guitars. The control panel, from left to right, reads “Volume, Treble, Bass, Reverb, Speed, and Intensity.” This means you get all the unique tonal qualities of the classic AA1164 circuit without having to spend hours dialing in the right sound with too many knobs. This amp is designed to give any guitarist a pure, articulate tone that is appropriate for any setting and handles a pedal chain beautifully.

When purchasing a kit from Mojotone, you will receive the following documentation.
1. Schematic
2. Wiring Diagram / Layout
Our beginner level kits such as the tweed champ and tweed deluxe include a manual. If you purchase a kit from Mojotone and do not receive these documents, you can obtain copies by emailing [email protected] or calling 800-927-6656. The Mojotone staff is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST unless otherwise closed.
Mojotone kits include the best quality parts that are available at the time of purchase. If a substitution is required, our team will use parts that are of equal quality to ensure the integrity of the kit build remains the same.
Building a fully functional amplifier kit is not an easy task. Before building a kit, one should have the ability to properly solder as well as read and understand a schematic and wiring diagram. While we do our very best to ensure all documentation is current, the included documentation is meant to serve as an overall guide to building the amplifier. Simply following the schematic and wiring diagram does not guarantee you will have a fully functional amplifier. In fact, post build troubleshooting is a common issue across all builds.
Our staff is available to assist with basic troubleshooting needs. There are plenty of online videos available that are helpful with most post build issues. Technical staff is available via email by sending a message to [email protected]. You may also call our sales team to discuss build problems, dial 800-927-6656 and press 1 for sales.
Building a tube amplifier takes time, dedication, resources and most importantly... Skills! The experience of building an amp can come with some frustration, the reward of completing the build is definitely well worth your time. Please review the wiring diagram, schematic and manual (if applicable) prior to making your purchase. Mojotone will not accept any returns on amplifier kits and/or parts that have been assembled, soldered or modified.
This amp kit also comes with the following documents. Please feel free to view and/or download them:

A Classic Amp For My First Amp Build
by Jack -
Years ago I played an old 60's Princeton Reverb at a local recording studio and it was one of the greatest sounding amps I've ever played. It always left an impression on me, so when it came to my first amp build and I found out mojotone had a kit for it, I knew I had to build it. This went very well thanks to the assembly manual and the included schematic and wiring diagram. The amp sounds amazing, and I'm already anxious to build another guitar amp.
Best instructions kit!

There are a number of decent Princeton Reverb kits out there, but my son was a first time kit builder so DETAILED drawings and step by step instructions really helped out and made sure that as soon as we flipped the power switch, it all worked. This is the way to go.
