Killer for Marshall tones

by Chris -

Ive gone through quite a few speaker combinations to find the best speaker to pare with my vintage blackback G12-30 (55hz). I’m a fan of mixing H type and M type speakers in a 412. After a video from Johan Segeborn comparing these to vintage greenbacks I was blown away. Very, very few modern speakers compare to those and when they even approach that level, they come at a stiff price. Having installed them in my cab I am once again blown away, and that’s just with a few hours’ time on them. I can only imagine they’ll sweeten even more with time. Great top end breakup that has all the treble I want without harshness, and a punchy, present midrange. It’s great to have something readily available that can go toe to toe with my vintage speakers. My main sound is a high gain version of the 70s Marshall sound, and These excel at that, but sound great at all gain levels. Miraculously, the low end is very big but not flubby. Kudos!

Fantastic rock/blues speaker after 20 hrs. break-in period

by J.E. -

I installed a pair of these in a MOJO 2x12 British style cab (offset, closed back). The cabinet is used with a Marshall SV20H or a Friedman DS40.
During the first week of playing I could not develop any of the enthusiasm for the BV-25M that other reviewers had reported before me. Actually, I found them quite boring. Their midrange sounded annoying, and overall they lacked of the harmonic complexity that I expect from Celestion type speakers when overdriven. I did not even feel tempted to play them for a few more days. Disappointed, but also knowing that most speakers need time to break in I fired them up again and kept going for a few more days.
After an accumulated 20 hrs. of playing the situation changed quite noticeably. The speakers now deliver a nicely balanced and sweet tone across the frequency spectrum, and they produce a complex and pleasant distortion when overdriven.
They are a fantastic match for the SV20H and my style of playing! Thank you, Mojotone!
