Back in 1986 a new breed of hard rock player was on the rise. To meet the demands of the players and their increasingly ‘hot-rodded’ amplifiers, Celestion set out to develop a modern speaker, capable of handling much more power and overdrive. To achieve this, Celestion coupled their ‘H’ magnet (the closest in performance to Alnico) with a new cone and voice coil employing contemporary materials.

Celestion's most revealing speaker, the Vintage 30 features enormously detailed and complex overtones, a warm low-end, a famously rich vocal mid-range and a beautifully detailed top-end. Used singly to reveal the complexities in hand-wired boutique amps, or in quartets for a wonderfully intricate vintage 3D crunch, the Vintage 30 sound has been captured on thousands of recordings from a diverse range of notable players including Slash, Steve Stevens and Peter Frampton.

If you read the other reviews you might think they're exaggerating .. Believe what they say, one reviewer mentioned John Lee Hooker, MC5 etc..(Kick Out the Jams's M*****************) That reviewer made the difference. My catalog of songs is mostly early electric.. My set up is Mogami from guitar to Kustom 4 watt amp head, Lion 12AX7 and NOS EL 84 NOS Groove. The same tubes I had in there already.. from the speaker to output of amp, Mogami, from guitar to amp Mogami. (same as before). Each one of my guitars sounded like "damn is this the same guitar?" in a good way.If your on the verge of purchasing this speaker, don't give it a second thought...

What can be said that hasn't already been about the Vintage 30? I installed these in my Peavey JSX 2x12 combo (along with a total recap and fresh compliment of Mesa tubes) and could not be happier. These V-30s are what really made the difference though. If nothing makes you happier than achieving that satisfying Metal tone, then install these. And before you get rid of an amp because of lackluster sound like I almost did with a Marshall VS65R, install these first. I think you'll keep that amp around. These make that drastic of an improvement. They aren't cheap but life is too short to put up with crap sound because you want to save a buck. Save the money on something else like your spouses anniversary gift.
