Back in 1986 a new breed of hard rock player was on the rise. To meet the demands of the players and their increasingly ‘hot-rodded’ amplifiers, Celestion set out to develop a modern speaker, capable of handling much more power and overdrive. To achieve this, Celestion coupled their ‘H’ magnet (the closest in performance to Alnico) with a new cone and voice coil employing contemporary materials.

Celestion's most revealing speaker, the Vintage 30 features enormously detailed and complex overtones, a warm low-end, a famously rich vocal mid-range and a beautifully detailed top-end. Used singly to reveal the complexities in hand-wired boutique amps, or in quartets for a wonderfully intricate vintage 3D crunch, the Vintage 30 sound has been captured on thousands of recordings from a diverse range of notable players including Slash, Steve Stevens and Peter Frampton.

I upgraded my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with this speaker. I read all the reviews and everyone was right. This speaker gave my hot rod the powerful and warm sound that everyone said it would. I received it today via UPS and I could tell the difference right off. The change from the stock fender/eminence to the Celestion V30 was awesome.

The Celestion Vintage 30 is perhaps the most important guitar speaker of the modern era. These come standard in the PPC line of Orange cabinets and many other high end cabs. Many people with Marshall 1960 A/B prefer to swap out the awful G12T-75 stock speakers for Vintage 30's. The G12T-75 sounds incredibly shrill with a really nasty boost at around 2.6 khz. As a result, people swap 'em out of their Marshalls for Vintage 30's, making them very popular in the aftermarket. You really cannot go wrong, and until you get into Creamback / Alnico Gold territory, it serves as a great speaker for the utilitarian guitar player.
