My hands swell up, and carpal tunnel kept me from getting bobbins would with as many wraps as they needed. I couldn't figure out how to "overwind" until I got this. Having the right tension allows you to wind pickups more consistently with the proper number of winds. For that, this is a great product! It it was cheaper, I'd buy a lot more of these... one for every kind of wire I have. it's just a pain to re-thread it every time I use a different wire.
