Inspired by some of history's most iconic British amps (and a couple of unmatched boutique ones) the Mojotone NC3015 is one of our most unique and articulate amps yet. Based on a familiar Class A EL84 platform, this amp delivers tones that salute some of the greatest guitarists of all time. Whether you're looking for the shimmering highs of George Harrison or Brian May, the jangle and chime of Mike Campbell, or the vintage crunch of bands like The Kinks, the careful design and component choice of the NC3015 will not leave you wanting.
The jumping off point for the NC3015 was the tone stack/preamp section of a classic Mid 60s 30-Watt EL84 AC type amp married with a 15-Watt power amp- hence the name NC3015, We felt this would give players the tonal control they wanted and the power amp saturation they desired without being too loud for most applications.
SOUND & VISION
The NC3015 utilizes two EL84 power tubes and three 12AX7 preamp tubes –delivering 15 Watts of classic EL84/AC tone reminiscent of the famed glassy British sound without being too harsh or sterile. We chose an EZ81 tube rectifier for slight compression at higher SPLs.For our kit, we chose our Mojotone BV-30V 60W speaker to complete the British vibe. It has a nice smooth tone at lower volumes and breaks up beautifully as you increase the amp's volume.
Enjoy the balanced sound and ease of use of the normal channel (high and low inputs with single volume control), or switch to the top boost channel for a slightly more aggressive sound with additional tone controls (high and low inputs with volume, treble, and bass controls). The amp also features a "top cut" control that works with both channels to give you a variety of sonic profiles to work with. We excluded tremolo and reverb in this kit as we wanted to provide a straight up, easy to build, easy to use amp that has great EL84 AC Type tones.

Our beginner level kits such as the tweed champ and tweed deluxe include a manual. If you purchase a kit from Mojotone and do not receive these documents, you can obtain copies by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 800-927-6656. The Mojotone staff is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST unless otherwise closed.
Mojotone kits include the best quality parts that are available at the time of purchase. If a substitution is required, our team will use parts that are of equal quality to ensure the integrity of the kit build remains the same.
Building a fully functional amplifier kit is not an easy task. Before building a kit, one should have the ability to properly solder as well as read and understand a schematic and wiring diagram. While we do our very best to ensure all documentation is current, the included documentation is meant to serve as an overall guide to building the amplifier. Simply following the schematic and wiring diagram does not guarantee you will have a fully functional amplifier. In fact, post build troubleshooting is a common issue across all builds.
Our staff is available to assist with basic troubleshooting needs. There are plenty of online videos available that are helpful with most post build issues. Technical staff is available via email by sending a message to email@example.com. You may also call our sales team to discuss build problems, dial 800-927-6656 and press 1 for sales.
Building a tube amplifier takes time, dedication, resources and most importantly... Skills! The experience of building an amp can come with some frustration, the reward of completing the build is definitely well worth your time. Please review the wiring diagram, schematic and manual (if applicable) prior to making your purchase. Mojotone will not accept any returns on amplifier kits and/or parts that have been assembled, soldered or modified.
Ratings & Reviews
This was my first ever amp build, and I had a blast!
I took Bill R's advice and used the British Style 18 Watt TMB instructions and Layout, as it is more detailed in showing twisted wires, etc.
I took my time and tackled the build in defined chunks, a few hours at a time.
Once finished, and after checking my work twice and thrice, the amp fired up and sounded great the very first try!
I have an AC15C1, and I think the NC3015 blows it away!
Tested through a Greenback, Vintage 30, and Celestion A-type, all in identical AC15 size cabs.
Sounds great through all 3, but I think the Greenback suits it best, with the V30 being a close second.
The only snag I ran into was a Black/Red wire from the Power Transformer which is not shown on the NC3015 layout.
Mojotone's Tech support told me to simply clip short and insulate this unused wire.
I don't know that I would necessarily recommend this for a first time builder, unless you are already confident in soldering, and general mechanical/fiddly stuff.
But if you are, the much larger chassis may make things easier than a 5f1/5e3 in some regards.
10/10 would recommend!
