Vintage P-90's from the 50's were very special because of their vocal and dynamic qualities, with bold highs that breathe with clarity. The only problem was the 60-cycle hum and for today's player, 60-cycle hum can be unbearable at times. Mojotone's patent applied for '56 Quiet Coil hum-cancelling P-90 delivers all of that vintage goodness of a coveted 1956 P-90 without ever compromising tone or feel.
Our approach was very simple, to make a P-90 pickup that sounds like a real vintage P-90 without the hum. ‘56 “Quiet Coil™” P-90 pickups are passive and only use the parts and materials found in original vintage ‘56 P-90 pickups. Vintage spec 42 gauge coil wire, lower Gauss Alnico magnets, adjustable polepieces, and vintage braided leads.
No PC boards, batteries, stacked coils, or anything else associated with other hum-canceling pickups were used in our design. The result is simply the most pure and authentic P-90 tone possible, with absolutely no loss of true single coil P-90 tone. Cranked, they are big and bold with a classic grind that pulsates with the amplifier like a sophisticated sounding P-90. Roll back the volume to get a sweet clean tone of a vintage P-90 without losing clarity or treble.
Quiet Coil Design Features... -Consistent scatterwound coils for that handwound tone, sensitivity, and clarity. -Vintage formulated Alnico magnet cores with lower Gauss levels like an aged vintage P-90 pickup. -Vintage braided leads for easy push-back soldering. -No routing modifications are required to fit shallow vintage routs like the taller stacked hum-cancelling designs. -Less parts are used to build the Quiet Coils compared to other designs. Like a vintage P-90 pickup, they are SIMPLE!

56' quiet coils I have a 2015 Gibson Melody Maker. Sort of a special with two p90s. thin slab of mahogany real light real responsive guitar. Love p90s cannot handle the buzz. I tried a series of cheaper p90 humbuckers and found it's just a mini humbucker not a p90. so I finally decided that I love the guitar enough to spend $235 on pickups. Well it was a good idea. I didn't have to change out the pots because of the peculiar 300K and 500K pots in it already. I'm not going to go as far as to say it's a perfect clone of a p90 but it's pretty goddamn close. A nice mid-range creaminess with that rock and roll bite smooth neck pickup solos really nicely. All in all perfect fit real easy setup easy solder in and out no complaints. 5 stars they do what they say they do!

null Bough a calibrated set of "quiet coils" and installed them in a Gibson Les Paul Classic. The original Gibson p-90s were pretty much useless: not only terribly noisy, but the bridge pickup was wound almost the same as neck and was weak and ice picky. I must admit that I was a little skeptical before ordering, but I took my chance and I was very pleasantly surprised. Upon receiving I was curious to peek inside one of the pickups and I noticed they have so called "sidewinder design". When measured with multi-meter they appeared very hot - from over 12k for neck, and 21k for bridge pickup! That scared me, as I was afraid they would sound muddy. However, they sound fantastic. Neck pickup sounds great clean and distorted. From very "single - coil-ish", to "humbucker-ish" when distorted and it has great definition and signal strength. Bridge pickup has some nice breakup when clean and sounds also fabulous distorted. Both combined, on clean settings have that "rockabilly" sound, great for rhythm chops. Lowering volume pot settings cleans tone nicely compared to regular humbuckers and they generally respond great to potentiometers. With these pickups in a Les Paul you can cover a wide spectrum of genres; you can set your sound for jazz, blues and more heavy stuff. On top of everything they are very reasonably priced and as it turns out - worth every penny. Bottom line: I am very pleased with the outcome, I would reccommend them to all p90 fans and I am looking forward to buying more pickups from Mojotone.

Player/Builder Best P-90’s I’ve ever played thru. If you love the vintage P-90’s tone but have shied away due to the amount of 60 cycle hum that they produce. These are the pickup for you. If you have a guitar with P-90’s that you love the way it plays and feels in your hands. But the tone isn’t what you want. If your not hung up on what name is on the headstock. These are the pickups for you.
If you have a guitar from a well known manufacturer that has P-90’’s but hate the hum. These are the pickups for you. If your someone who has guitar built by a well known company that has P-90’s. These are the pickups for you. Because I can guarantee they sound better then what came in the guitar. Don’t bother looking around. Comparing other companies versions of P-90’s is just a waist of time. When you can just go ahead and order Mojotones P-90’s. You can be enjoying the awesome huge tone they give you without the 60 cycle hum within the week.
These are the best P-90’s on the market today. Very pleased. Worth every penny spent. I installed them in a lower end guitar. I already loved the guitar. Because it plays so well and just fits. The pickups put it over the top. I had to make myself quit playing. The cheapest guitar I own is now the absolute best I have.
You guys at Mojotone, well done...well done!!!

Spindrift Guitars / Stol Guitars The hum is gone! The tone remains! These pickups are not your typical stacked hum cancelling P90s. The positioning of the coils capture the P90 magic. Stacked pickups are OK at emulating P90's but the Quiet Coils are fooling folks who try them in my shop. The most quoted phrase... "only the lack of hum gives them away".
If you want genuine P90 tone without the P90 racket put MOJOTONE P90 pickups in your instrument.

Amazing Pickups! My story is like many others...I love P90s but for the amount of gain I use, at times the hum is too much. So time and time again I try some humbucking P90, and bye bye hum, and unfortunately, bye bye tone. And around and around it goes. These "56 Quiet Coil" P90s break the cycle! I've had these installed for a couple of months now and my initial impression remains: Amazing pickups!

Great pickups! I've had them in over a month now and I'm blown away more everytime I play them. I replaced my Fralin hum-cancelling P90s with the Mojotones and while the Fralins were nice, I really Iike the Mojotones the best. They just sound like a P90 should to me. Thanks Mojo!

null I added the QC P-90 (neck model) to the Bridge position on my Gibson Midtown to match with a Gibson mini-humbucker in the neck position.
VERY good results, and no phase issues as I received a two conductor lead by request.
The blended sound is fantastic and the QC P90 alone sounds just like the Demo!!

null I actually played that 58 Jr at NAMM. I was stunned. No other way to describe it. I'm going to order two sets of those 56 quiet coils. I think Mojotone successfully reinvented the P-90. They've knocked it out of the park on this one.

null The Quiet Coil P90 pickups sound just like 50's P90's which have a clearer sound than later Gibson P90's. A full range sound from top to bottom. Because they are quiet, you hear nuances that you've never noticed before. Love em! Thanks David!

Hobbiest These are great in my Gibson Les Paul Studio 60's tribute. Sweet and singing without being muddy in the neck, and full toned without being an ice pick in the bridge. Excellent set of balanced p90's!
