The 44 Magnum is the most powerful and aggressive passive humbucker Mojotone offers, designed to deliver lots of gain, articulation, and sustain with no loss of clarity or high end detail.

Highlights:

  • Coil tapping is strong and full sounding.
  • Powerful and rich mids make harmonics effortless and responsive much like an active pickup
  • Low tunings remain clear and defined with plenty of punch and tight attack
  • Smooth and balanced highs with no harsh overtones or loss of dynamics

Our special winding technique allows the frequency response of the pickup to be as broad as possible which makes for a more open sounding pickup. You could say that they “breathe”- allowing more frequencies to come through- unlike typical high output passive humbuckers which usually squash or box in your tone.

Thank you to whoever designed this thing.

by Matt H.

I typically play low to medium output pickups so I took a chance on this (bridge only), and after backing off the level on my Tube Screamer a bit, I found the sweet spot for this thing and fell in love. It is addicting to play because the response feels so good, and it sounds huge. The description is pretty accurate, but to my ears I'd edit the treble up a notch for the bridge in the specs section.

The 44 Magnum has a lot of muscle behind it without having the typical harshness that I tend to hear in ceramics. It is thick and tight at the same time without being dry, and it has a nice bite on the top end. The harmonics scream, and the mids sit in just the right spot without being honky. If I had to compare it to something, it's been a while since I played a Duncan Distortion and this 44 Magnum reminds me of that, a little, but without any of the issues I had with the Distortion. It is definitely its own beast, though. Definitely a keeper.

Worth the Price

Replaced a bad bridge pickup in my HH telecaster with the 44 Magnum and it is like a brand new guitar. Really growls and produces a nice focused and nuanced tone. Even with decent amounts of gain there is a surprising amount of clarity. It also sounds amazing clean, giving you a wide range of options. Running it through my Revv Generator 120 into a Mesa 4x12… DUDE! The 44 Magnum will flat out knock your socks off, take the change off your dresser, and steal your girlfriend.
