Great Les Paul Pot, but read about spline shaft modification review for Les Paul Knobs.

by dparsons

These pots work great and sound great and are a good price. However, the factory Les Pauls, the spline shaft is exactly 2 mm shorter than this standard split spline shaft. This has a standard split spline tip length, so on a Les Paul, it is going to make the knob stick up in the air. Very easy for me to fix... I put on a pair of safety goggles and a Hazmat suit and used a bench top grinder and carefully ground down 2 mm on the spline shaft tip using the medium course wheel. Fine wheels cause more heat. Check length with a caliper after just a moment of light grinding. Keep the tip FLAT. Then, with a very fine metal file, I filed the chamfer back into the tip, and smoothed out the top. Buy an extra one in case you make a mistake. The result was that it looked exactly like the Les Paul split spline tips and the control knobs were perfect height. Don't use a Dremel tool or a hand grinder. Use a BENCH grinder.

Nice wide taper giving you total control.

by Jake

Yo!!! If you're looking for a pot that gives you far more control over your gain this is it! I never write reviews but for the sake of helping out somebody that is looking for a pot that will allow you a nice wide range to get different levels of gain using just your volume knob, just buy it! Easily the best volume taper I have ever used. Do not worry about the low resistance it feels great and stays put. I replaced a 500k Gibson pot with this and its lights out better.
