After the original Champ amplifiers received such acclaim, Fender introduced the Vibro-Champ in an effort to build on the success of the simple 5F1 circuit by adding a tube-driven tremolo with speed and intensity controls without losing any of the Champ’s renowned tone. A unique-sounding and apt recording amp, the Vibro-Champ has been used by a wide range of artists, from Eric Clapton to Mac Demarco.
Lightweight and portable, the Mojotone Vibro-Champ style amp is perfect for the studio, practice, and even mic’d club gigs. Our Vibro-Champ style amp is a class A, 7 watt tone powerhouse with clear and articulate sound reproduction at low volumes. And no worries, if you want the raw and entrancing sound of a dimed out Champ, this kit will deliver without losing its inherent clarity.
Enjoy the smooth, natural compression of a single 6V6 power tube and the versatility of two inputs with varying output levels. Controls from left to right are volume, treble, bass, speed, and intensity. Nothing beats a well-designed and short signal path with a straight-forward control panel -- our Vibro-Champ amp is based on a circuit that has proven its worth for almost 60 years!

Building a fully functional amplifier kit is not an easy task. Before building a kit, one should have the ability to properly solder as well as read and understand a schematic and wiring diagram. While we do our very best to ensure all documentation is current, the included documentation is meant to serve as an overall guide to building the amplifier. Simply following the schematic and wiring diagram does not guarantee you will have a fully functional amplifier. In fact, post build troubleshooting is a common issue across all builds.
Our staff is available to assist with basic troubleshooting needs. There are plenty of online videos available that are helpful with most post build issues. Technical staff is available via email by sending a message to tech@mojotone.com. You may also call our sales team to discuss build problems, dial 800-927-6656 and press 1 for sales.
Building a tube amplifier takes time, dedication, resources and most importantly... Skills! The experience of building an amp can come with some frustration, the reward of completing the build is definitely well worth your time. Please review the wiring diagram, schematic and manual (if applicable) prior to making your purchase. Mojotone will not accept any returns on amplifier kits and/or parts that have been assembled, soldered or modified.

Nice amp
by David
The Vibro-Champ was a good first amp build, learned a lot. I had a different symptom for the reversed red and blue wires from the output transformer. In my case I had no sound at all while other reviewers had a squeal. To be more specific the correct locations for the wires, the blue wire goes to the corner of the board at the 1k resistor, the red wire goes to the 3 pin of the 6V6 tube. You'll know they've finally changed the wiring diagram if it shows that and not the other way around.
Most components measured within 2% of specified value with only 3 outliers.
Sound quality is good, low noise, surprising loud for a 7w amp, not enough for a gig but loud enough to be heard clearly outside the house.
Switch the red and the blue for tone
by Mike H.
My second build after the 5E3 and I don’t think it was any more difficult. I have mine in a combo with a 12” and love it. I also had to switch the leads off the output transformer— switch the red and the blue. The piercing squeal existed at every volume except at 8, both above and below. Weird. 3 for 3 based on the current reviews, so it would be good to get the wiring diagram changed. Also, it would be nice to have working voltage on the diagram like on the 5E3 for testing.
That said, all the parts were there and the videos for the Deluxe Reverb were a good reference.
