Mojotone’s Tweed Vibrolux Style Amp Kit is a one-of-a-kind gem when it comes to clones. This 10 Watt tone machine was originally based on the Fender Harvard but with an added tremolo circuit. The Harvard and Vibrolux are two of the more rare Tweed era amps — we were so intrigued by the sound of a beautiful tremolo coming through a high fidelity Tweed style circuit that we just had to make it into a kit!

Featuring two 6V6s, two 12AX7s, and one 5Y3, our Vibrolux is every bit as clear and chimey as the original. The Jensen C10Q 35 Watt speaker was a great match for this circuit due to its ability to produce a smoother break up than some of its lower wattage relatives — this particular speaker also remains articulate when the tremolo function is stretched to its extremes.

The control panel is extremely user friendly, consisting of depth and speed (for the tremolo), a single tone control and a single volume control. There are three instruments inputs on this 5F11 circuit as it was originally designed to allow for the use of multiple guitars or multiple other instruments, just like a lot of the other Tweed era designs.

We have a multi-tap output transformer available for this kit which features 4, 8, and 16 Ohm speaker output secondary taps. Find it here: Tweed Deluxe® Multi-Tap Output Transformer This transformer is sold separately.

When purchasing a kit from Mojotone, you will receive the following documentation.

  • Schematic
  • Wiring Diagram / Layout

Our beginner level kits such as the tweed champ and tweed deluxe include a manual. If you purchase a kit from Mojotone and do not receive these documents, you can obtain copies by emailing tech@mojotone.com or calling 800-927-6656. The Mojotone staff is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST unless otherwise closed.

Mojotone kits include the best quality parts that are available at the time of purchase. If a substitution is required, our team will use parts that are of equal quality to ensure the integrity of the kit build remains the same.

Building a fully functional amplifier kit is not an easy task. Before building a kit, one should have the ability to properly solder as well as read and understand a schematic and wiring diagram. While we do our very best to ensure all documentation is current, the included documentation is meant to serve as an overall guide to building the amplifier. Simply following the schematic and wiring diagram does not guarantee you will have a fully functional amplifier. In fact, post build troubleshooting is a common issue across all builds.

Our staff is available to assist with basic troubleshooting needs. There are plenty of online videos available that are helpful with most post build issues. Technical staff is available via email by sending a message to tech@mojotone.com. You may also call our sales team to discuss build problems, dial 800-927-6656 and press 1 for sales.

Building a tube amplifier takes time, dedication, resources and most importantly... Skills! The experience of building an amp can come with some frustration, the reward of completing the build is definitely well worth your time. Please review the wiring diagram, schematic and manual (if applicable) prior to making your purchase. Mojotone will not accept any returns on amplifier kits and/or parts that have been assembled, soldered or modified.

This amp kit also comes with the following documents. Please feel free to view and/or download them:

Very pleased with this kit

by anonymous

I bought the chassis only kit, it arrived quickly, and was complete. All parts were high quality. The layout drawings and schematic are excellent. They send a second layout in case you want to make the tube bias adjustable. That option requires some extra parts, so if your going with that option, make sure to order them. I was very pleased with this kit. I took my time, studied the layout, and it fired right up and sounded great first try. This is my third mojotone kit build, they have all been very successful.

I love it so much

by anonymous

After many years of building pedals, I decided to give amp building a shot. A buddy suggested the 5F11 and I dove in.. The chassis is extremely high quality, the small parts kit was well-organized. Even an absolute beginner could have built this!

I was beyond excited when it fired up on the first try. All the voltages checked out (a little high, but technically within spec per the notations on the 1950s scheamtic), and I was able to experience the sound of Fender tweed for the very first time. I understand this circuit is unique in that it stays cleaner longer, but I'd consider it extremely punchy and perfect in a mix. Oh, and the bias trem is hypnotic! I love it so much.

Thanks again, Mojotone!
